Wow great precise video and good information. I was researching on all sorts of Options like Oil Coolers, Air Fans etc .. Will this work on a 2017 Sportser Roadster ... Im planning to buy one un the coming week and was researching cooling solutions when i saw your video

I don't believe this feature was implemented on any of the Sportsters. I would verify with a dealer. An oil cooler is probably best followed by making sure air flow is not blocked by accessories. Good luck.

The older models with the first touchscreens are wire only, and the headset has to be purchased through HD. But you can also get a Bluetooth attachment. Available in both HD and other brands. Then you should be able to connect your Sena. rsmf

Was this a 2016? I absolutely love mine and is a smoothest nicest touring bike I’ve ever owned granted the 2022 and 23 are probably nicer with more features but this one with the V-twin will definitely go over 150,000 miles and it’s got plenty of power without high output V-twin and I’m very pleased with it

The reason that bike has tachometer is because it was a police motorcycle. They are the only road Kings came with attack otter on the handlebars. Somebody has modified it quite a bit because it didn’t start out with that kind of seat on it and the tank badge tells you it is a motorcycle. Is the red switch on the handle and the way saddlebags open, they put a S&S air cleaner on it

    • @nwroadrat

The bars were a direct OEM from Triumph, probably discontinued now. Best bet is eBay or old stock somewhere. After you have the bars any foot pegs that fit the bars will do. Good luck!

at 3000 rpm, most choppers develop the highest torque ... so maybe a little above that you need to change the gear ... I don't know, I change the gear according to the sound ... but if there is a little vibration in the engine when you drive uphill, it is a sign that you need to switch to lower ... that is, you are a little late

Your oil temp seems disturbingly high to me. Might want to look into a [better] oil cooler, better engine oil (AMSOIL, Mobil1) and a tune. My TC runs well under 220 except for the very hottest days in heavy traffic. Engine temp is < 250 most of the time.

Congratulations on your FLHTCU purchase! In 2007, after a 26 year riding hiatus, I bought my first HD - a new 2008 FLHTC which is one trim level below your bike. I was scared at first, but gradually got used to it. You probably got used to the difference from your FLHR much faster. I'm 74 now, and two years after selling my Stage 2 2010 FLHTCU, I'm craving another mc. I'd like to get an FLHR but the the FLHT_'s are actually less expensive, which I find strange, given that they have more features and storage. Maybe cuz HD discontinued the FLHR after 2022. Thanks for the info about the 2014-2016 HD's. BTW, nice shiny dash on your bike! Stay safe!

I had one of these back in 09 which worked well. Got another one in 2018 and it was crap. Never worked well. The one that worked well was the Chrome one with the blue backlight. The one in 2018 was the black one with the typical Grey led background with black l.E.D. numbers. I got ANOTHER ONE and it performed worse. For the money they cost I was livid and extreme disappointed in the quality and unreliability of them and to this day I use the stock plastic one.

The side stand? I'm 232 pounds. I can stand on the right floor board and get on the bike while on the jiffy stand. Try that with any other bike, i dare you. I think the Harley is the only bike you can do this. Had a friend try it on his honda and almost fell over.

i ride a 2006 c90 suzuki the bike new was 667 dry with bridgstone tires suzuki says 29 psi front 36 psi back. the bike now and has for a good while now has had a batwing, sadle bags and trunk added lot of crome trim, tunk and side bags are fiber glass. this bike easy is pushing over 800 lbs now not to mention i way 237 lbs. and no longer have bridgestone tires on it. so no whats in the book you got or on the swing arm is only a starter point. unless your still useing the same type tires that were on the bike new and you weigh the same as the test ridder. [ 160 lbs ] and you have done no add ons or mods. now think about that!

Just tried it on a 2021 RG Ltd. It works, but it's impossible or near impossible to read in the sunlight. I did find out that at 102-104 ambient, 70 -75 mph for one hour, oil on the twin cooled 114 gets to 254 deg F--just OK if you run real synthetic like Amsoil not Syn 3 (at most 50%-60% real synthetic). In traffic, the twin cool seems to keep it in check on hot days, but don't go revving it while stopped and short shift it to get it moving. There is an oil cooler made by Mr. Clarkes (Oil Bud) that would help this without blocking air flow to the cylinders, but it's not cheap and Harley engineers as always are just keeping it in lane without an oil cooler on these twin cooled. P.S. probably should not ever close the lower air vents unless it's freezing outside!
